Welcome Letter!

July 29, 2025

 Dear Camp Ernst Families,

 We are almost ready to begin an exciting new school year!  This is my twelfth year as the principal at Camp Ernst Middle School and I look forward to meeting our incoming families.  A great community began 20 years ago at CEMS and the traditions that have continued to evolve in that time grow stronger each year.  We will continue to “lead the way” as we embark on the adventures of this school year.  Camp Ernst Middle School’s vision is to create a comfortable environment for learning that is upheld by family and driven by accountability from our community.

 A vision developed by the entire community!  Together, we will work to create a comfortable environment focused on learning!    We welcome you to visit our school and to become involved through volunteering.  We are fortunate to have a supportive Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO) and encourage you to become an active member.   The support of our parents, teachers and students has become a long standing tradition at CEMS and we couldn’t do what we do without you!  Your children are our number one priority and we will continue to work diligently towards our vision and mission to prepare them for their future.

Last year our school was under construction with the addition of 12 new classrooms.  We are happy to report that the construction is complete! The roadway leading to Rogers Lane is going to be open again this school year.  Buses and car traffic will return to pre-construction patterns.  Thank you all for your patience!  The new classrooms are beautiful!!

Transportation Information

Bus Information:

Students should arrive at the bus stop a few minutes early on the first day.  Remind your child to stand on the sidewalk until the bus comes to a complete stop and the door opens.  Also, tell your child to memorize their bus number so they can find it at the end of the day.  We will have staff directing kids to the appropriate bus at dismissal.

 Families can check bus information by visiting Boone County Schools website. Click HERE for a link to the Transportation Department where you can scroll down to find the bus locator.

 @CEMS:

 Drop off: Please follow the procedures below if you are dropping your child off at Camp Ernst.  Read the procedures carefully.

 As you enter the parking lot, veer to the right and follow the arrows.

  1. Due to the increased volume of traffic between 7:05-7:25 am we have posted staff in various positions to direct the traffic.  You will come upon a staff member directing the traffic flow.  Follow their instructions.

  2. Please do not allow your child to exit the vehicle anywhere in the parking lot beyond the first row.  Your child’s safety is our number priority.

  3. Drive slowly as you exit the drop off area as there will be traffic directed into the line from the first row to exit the parking lot.

 Pick up:  School is dismissed at 2:25.  If you will be picking your child up from school, please pull into the parking lot the same way as morning procedures and form a line.  We will direct traffic out of the lot.
